Compressed air, nitrogen and oxygen quality analysis
Even without direct contact with the final product, the presence of particles, moisture, oil and microorganisms can compromise the safety of your processes and compliance with international quality and export standards. Briskfil measures, identifies and helps correct these issues through specialised analysis and a quality certificate.

The contaminants that compromise your product are invisible.
The quality of compressed air and industrial gases can be compromised by invisible contaminants. Even when there is no direct contact with the final product, the presence of particles, moisture, oil and microorganisms can affect process safety and compliance with international export and quality standards.
Briskfil’s compressed air, nitrogen and oxygen quality analysis determines exactly what is circulating through your network, compares the results against the applicable purity classes and issues the certificate required for your audit.
Particle count and composition
Simplified sample collection, without the need for costly technical visits, with a report detailing particle count and composition, classified according to the relevant purity classes. Solid particles carried through the network can wear down actuators, clog spray nozzles and contaminate products on filling lines.
Residual oil and oil vapour
Determination of residual oil and oil vapour for air and hydrocarbon quality control, in accordance with Part 5 of ISO 8573. This is the most critical parameter in food, pharmaceutical and healthcare environments, and the one that most frequently fails in installations with lubricated compressors.
Total viable count
Determination of the total viable count present in compressed air, based on a collected sample for analysis by an accredited laboratory in accordance with Part 7 of ISO 8573. Microbiological contamination is invisible, odourless and can only be detected through laboratory analysis.
Organic gases in nitrogen and oxygen
Quantitative and qualitative determination of organic gases present in nitrogen and oxygen samples. Essential when gas purity determines the quality of cutting, inerting or the preservation atmosphere.
Moisture and dew point
Measurement of water content and pressure dew point. Moisture in the network can carry rust to points of use, damage instrumentation and create conditions that promote microbiological growth.
How does the quality analysis work?
1. Preliminary analysis. We assess the installation, the type of compressor, the existing air treatment system and the critical points of use in your process.
2. Sample collection. The collection process is straightforward and carried out at the points that matter, without the logistics and cost of an extended technical visit.
3. Testing by an accredited laboratory. The samples are sent to an accredited laboratory for testing in accordance with the applicable parts of ISO 8573.
4. Identification of critical points. The report goes beyond simply presenting values. It identifies where the installation is failing and why.
5. Implementation of improvements. We propose and carry out the necessary corrections, from filtration to drying, and from piping to the point of use.
6. Certificate issuance. We issue a biochemical and microbiological quality certificate, ready to be presented during an audit.

Quality analysis for certification and auditing
Compressed air quality analysis is no longer optional in many industries. It is a requirement for audits, exports and maintaining certification.
Briskfil is the only supplier in Portugal offering nitrogen generators certified for food contact, using additive E941, in compliance with European and international standards. We provide comprehensive support for audits and food safety certification processes.
Why does a quality analysis fail?
In most cases, the problem is not with the compressor. It is with what comes after it.
Undersized or expired filtration. Filter elements have a limited service life and can lose efficiency long before any noticeable change occurs in the process.
Insufficient drying. A dew point above the required level can cause condensation in the network and create conditions that promote microbiological growth.
Inadequate piping. Carbon steel pipework releases rust particles into the point of use throughout the entire lifetime of the installation.
A lubricated compressor where oil-free air is required. No level of filtration can fully compensate for the wrong choice of equipment.
Lack of monitoring. Without regular measurements, deviations are only detected when an audit fails or after the product has already left the facility.
After the quality analysis, the solution typically involves installing suitable compressed air and gas distribution systems or carrying out an energy audit of the equipment. These audits often reveal air leaks that can account for up to 30% of total consumption and, in extreme cases, as much as 50%.
Quality analysis: frequently asked questions
It is a test that determines the levels of particles, moisture, oil and microorganisms present in the compressed air or gases within an installation, comparing the results against the purity classes defined by ISO 8573. The result is a biochemical and microbiological quality certificate that demonstrates the installation’s compliance for audits and certification processes.
ISO 8573 defines compressed air purity classes based on three parameters: solid particles, moisture and oil content. Part 5 establishes the method for determining residual oil and oil vapour, while Part 7 covers the method for determining total viable count. Compliance is mandatory in sectors such as food, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, and is strongly recommended for any process where the quality of the final product depends on the purity of the air used.
No. Sample collection is simplified and carried out at the relevant points of use, without the logistics and cost of an extended technical visit. The samples are then sent to an accredited laboratory.
It covers all three. In addition to the compressed air parameters, we quantitatively and qualitatively determine the organic gases present in nitrogen and oxygen samples, which is crucial when gas purity affects cutting, inerting or the preservation atmosphere.
It depends on the sector and the applicable standards. In food and pharmaceutical environments, testing is typically carried out annually, with additional tests after any changes to the installation, compressor replacement or modifications to the network. In critical processes, continuous monitoring between tests may be warranted.
Yes. We provide comprehensive support for audits and food safety certification processes, including IFS and BRC standards. We are the only supplier in Portugal offering nitrogen generators certified for food contact, using the E941 additive.
